CALL FOR PAPERS

The Architecture Unit of ATINER organizes A Stream on “Architectural Theory-Aesthetic Issues”, 9-12 July, 2018 as part of the 8th Annual International Conference on Architecture sponsored by the Athens Journal of Architecture.

The stream has a goal to encourage theoreticians and practicing architects to explore and present ideas linked to aesthetic issues regarding the art and science of building activity as communication of cultural, social, and political meanings. In that sense, architecture, incorporating other arts, builds and forms metaphorical and symbolical language in order to express such meanings. Scholars and practitioners are particularly welcome to address contemporary issues in the field of aesthetics regarding architecture and build environment, according to its constant transformational and dynamic process of development. Our dynamic age seems to abandon the idea of coherently defined aesthetic values in architectural and urban design, and in that sense new approaches should be proposed and discussed.

Deadline for abstract submission: March 12, 2018.

CALL FOR PAPERS

Evental Aesthetics

CFP: Open Call - Aesthetic Intersections 2

Deadline: 31 January 2018

Evental Aesthetics is an independent, double-blind peer-reviewed journal dedicated to philosophical and aesthetic intersections. The journal is open-access, and there are no publication fees. The Editors seek submissions for an unthemed issue in early 2018.

Aesthetic Intersections 2 will be devoted to philosophical matters pertaining to any aesthetic practice or experience, including but not limited to art and everyday aesthetics.

We welcome articles (4,000-8,000 words) and Collisions (1,000-2,500 words). Collisions are brief responses to aesthetic experiences that raise philosophical questions, pointing the way towards suggestive discussions. We're also seeking proposals for Collisions with academic books (EA’s version of book reviews).

Submission and formatting requirements, along with further information on Collisions, are available at http://eventalaesthetics.net/submissions/.  Submissions that do not meet our requirements will not be considered.  With questions not addressed by the EA website, please contact the Editors.
