The 9th MCA is organised by SANART Association of Aesthetics and Visual Culture in collaboration with Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University. The congress will explore the relationship between our understanding of the past and our experience of the present with a focus on the aesthetic dimensions of this dynamic. MCA will feature keynote addresses from renowned experts, including Thierry de Duve, Jacob Lund, Alan Wenham-Prosser, and Eray Çaylı. Rüstem Aslan, previously site director at Troy excavation site, will also deliver a special presentation on the site, its history and its ongoing excavations. The congress invites papers that address various subtopics related to historicity and contemporaneity, such as historical perspectives on aesthetics, contemporary manifestations of historicity in art, and the politics of history. The congress also has a focus on the future, including the Anthropocene and artificial intelligence.
