IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca is launching a Winter School that aims at critically analysing the multifarious notion of ?cut?. The notion of cut plays a crucial role in different disciplines from the Humanities and the Social Sciences, among others, a circumstance that makes it an ideal subject for careful scrutiny and examination from both an historical and a theoretical perspective. The occasion is particularly favourable as the Winter School is contiguous with the international three day conference on John Ruskin to be held, among other locations, at IMT Lucca on 28th November.
Deadline for application: 6 October, 2019.

CALL FOR PAPERS
Aesthetics of the everyday life in contemporary cities
Aesthetics as a philosophical discipline is confronted today with the challenge of responding to the complex phenomena of contemporary daily life. The 8th Mediterranean Congress of Aesthetics focuses on the aesthetics of everyday life, as a field of study that is concerned with the interplay of the active subject with the social-political milieu of contemporary cities.
The congress aims to a creative debate between philosophers, aestheticians, art theorists and theorists of architecture, as well as artists, architects, urban and landscape designers, theorists and researchers of culture and the media, who are interested in formulating a critical contemplation, in relation to the aesthetics of everyday life in contemporary cities.
Deadline for submission of abstracts: 15 December, 2019.
Please, find further details in the attachments.
CALL FOR PAPERS
Literature has so far played a central role in the philosophical debates concerning fiction, narrative and the cognitive relevance of art. The goal of this conference is to explore whether the accounts developed starting from the paradigmatic case of literature can also be applied to other forms of art or if the latter rather require sharply different approaches. We invite submissions for 40-minute presentations (with 20 additional minutes for discussion).
Deadline for submissions: 31 December, 2019.
For further details please visit the website of the conference.
