CALL FOR PAPERS

The intersection of aesthetics and politics is a complex and multifaceted field of study. From the use of art as propaganda to the exploitation of creative processes for political ends, the ways in which aesthetics and politics intersect are numerous and varied.
Editors of The Polish Journal of Aesthetics invite researchers to submit articles that explore the relationship between aesthetics and political economy. They are particularly interested in analyses of political conflicts, artists and art practices, and their relationship to economic systems and structures. However, they welcome submissions from all areas of art and aesthetics that relate to this theme.

Deadline for submissions: 31 January, 2023.

Please, find further details in the attached pdf.

CALL FOR PAPERS

Bullshit Studies is a developing scholarly discipline. The guest-editors, Thorsten Botz-Bornstein (Gulf University for Science & Technology, Kuwait) and Adrian Mróz (The Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland) of this upcoming volume of The Polish Journal of Aesthetics invite researchers to submit relevant articles on bullshit within the domains of art and aesthetics. The theoretical framework consists in reworking philosophical assumptions about truth and fiction. How do falsehood, unfalsifiable claims, or nonsense  give a voice to creative and fictive processes?

Deadline for abstract submission: 30 June, 2021.

Please, find further details in the attached pdf.

CALL FOR PAPERS

The Polish Journal of Aesthetics

On the threshold of the third decade of the twenty-first century, we wish to take a look at improvisation in contemporary art. What is the current significance of this creative method? What is the status of research on improvised art as well as on improvisation as a mode of operation in general? Has improvised art created its own distinctive forms, can it be captured by means of the categories we apply to non-improvisational art, or does it perhaps require new creative as well as new theoretical tools?

Deadline for submissions: 31 March, 2019

Please, find further information on the website of the journal.

CALL FOR PAPERS

The Editorial Board of The Polish Journal of Aesthetics kindly invite Authors to submit proposals to a special issue of the journal titled “Revisiting Historical Intersections in Art and Aesthetics” edited by Zoltán Somhegyi (University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates).

CALL FOR PAPERS

Estetyka i Krytyka - The Polish Journal of Aesthetics.

Call for Papers: “Memory and (Counter) Monuments”, 47 (3/2017).

Prospective authors are encouraged to investigate such topics as: Counter-Monument, a monument transformed by art interventionism; the building of a monument as an act of political resistance; the destruction of ancient monuments as a political-ideological act in order to destroy the memory of a singular culture; erasing the memory of a certain "unpleasant" time; hidden signs of dissent in monuments commissioned by political (and/or religious) power; or any kind of transformation that memorials and monuments undergo in a manner that could bring the memory of past and present together, transforming their meaning – through art – for future generations.

The issue “Memory and (Counter) Monuments” will be published in English.

Editors: Carla Milani Damião (Federal University of Goiás, Brazil) and Natalia Anna Michna (Jagiellonian University, Poland).

Submission deadline: 1st July, 2017.
