CALL FOR PAPERS

The Polish Journal of Aesthetics

On the threshold of the third decade of the twenty-first century, we wish to take a look at improvisation in contemporary art. What is the current significance of this creative method? What is the status of research on improvised art as well as on improvisation as a mode of operation in general? Has improvised art created its own distinctive forms, can it be captured by means of the categories we apply to non-improvisational art, or does it perhaps require new creative as well as new theoretical tools?

Deadline for submissions: 31 March, 2019

Please, find further information on the website of the journal.

CALL FOR PAPERS

Evental Aesthetics

CFP: AI and ubiquitous smart technologies

Deadline: 31 March, 2019

Evental Aesthetics is an independent, double-blind peer-reviewed journal dedicated to philosophical and aesthetic intersections. The journal is open-access, and there are no publication fees. The Editors seek submissions for a themed issue in the summer of 2019, analysing the topic of AI and ubiquitous smart technologies. More details on the topic at: http://eventalaesthetics.net/cfp/

Topics may be freely interpreted. However, all submissions must address philosophical matters, broadly construed. We welcome articles (4,000-8,000 words) and Collisions (1,000-2,500 words). Collisions are brief responses to aesthetic experiences that raise philosophical questions, pointing the way towards suggestive discussions.

Submission and formatting requirements, along with further information on Collisions, are available at http://eventalaesthetics.net/submissions/. Submissions that do not meet our requirements will not be considered. With questions not addressed by the EA website, please contact the Editors.

CALL FOR PAPERS

The IKKM (Internationales Kolleg für Kulturtechnikforschung und Medienphilosophie) is organising a conference in Weimar, Germany, titled “SCHALTEN UND WALTEN– Towards Operative Ontologies”,  between 23-25 October, 2019.

The conference will conclude the IKKM six-year research program “Operative Ontologies”which was structured along polar, complementary or gradual pairs of operations, which in themselves function as dualities or duplicities. Opening and closing, framing and sewing, appearing and disappearing, coupling and separating, compressing and dispersing, pointing and causing, reproduction and multiplication, or recursion and reflection were each examined as interrelated couples of ontological operations. As a continuation of this pairing method, the IKKM invites contributors to present papers on ontologically relevant pairs of operations that may or may not explore one of the examples mentioned above or others – for instance folding and unfolding, or, in a recursive manner, the operations of pairing and cleaving themselves.

Deadline for abstract submissions: 1 March, 2019.

Please, find further details in the attachment.
