Society for Aesthetics in Slovakia (SPES) was established in Prešov in 2011. The key objectives of SPES are (1) to promote freedom of research and thinking in the field of aesthetics, (2) to create conditions for the free professional discussion on aesthetic topics in theory and practice, (3) to spread the latest knowledge in the field of aesthetics for the professional and general public, (4) to promote the results of the scientific research in the field of aesthetics to both specialised professionals and the wider public, including the media, cultural institutions and school practice, (5) to organize scientific and professional events, scientific conferences, seminars, workshops, symposia, lectures, discussions among experts from Slovakia and abroad, (6) to cooperate with similar organizations at home and abroad, and (7) to develop publishing activities mainly in the periodical established by SPES: ESPES online journal as well as in other publications. ESPES journal (electronic magazine of the Society for Aesthetics in Slovakia) is a scholarly, aesthetic and artistic online journal, intended for the professional public in the given departments, for PhD, BA and MA students, as well as for the broader public. ESPES regularly publishes a selection of professional works of various kinds – studies, reviews, essays, reports, etc. Contributions to the journal are anonymously peer-reviewed. The journal is published twice a year, in June and December.
